Position Summary

Wilson Associates is looking for an Associate Designer to join our Los Angeles design studio.

Background & Skills

Education
Bachelor's degree.

Experience
0–3 years of relevant design experience; can produce a portfolio to exemplify strengths; knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, and specification. Experience in hospitality design is preferred.

Technical Skills
AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

Essential Functions

  • Knowledge of local material resources preferred.

  • Collect material requirements and costs, and prepare presentation on design for client to review.

  • Subcontract fabrication, installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, art work, furniture, and related items under supervision of Senior Designer.

  • Render design ideas in form of paste-ups or drawings.

  • Participates in development of presentation material and helps maintain graphic quality and content.

  • Participates in client presentations/meetings through design development, then as required the design fulfillment phases.

  • Creating graphic presentations.

  • Assist in producing finish plans, specifications, and material selection under supervision of Senior Designer.

  • Select or design, furnishings, art works, and accessories.

  • Strong organization, communication and relationship management skills.

  • Provide design support on interiors projects, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development and construction documents.

  • Prepares FF&E design based on approval of Project FF&E Designer by client.

  • Prepares preliminary budget based on established design direction.

  • Participates in selection of FF&E color palettes & material presentations, and generate specifications. Secures samples, products, etc.

  • Knowledge of local material resources preferred.

  • Support client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination.

  • Assist in preparation of finish schedule, finish notebooks, and specification books.

  • Prepares architectural design based on approval of Project Architectural Designer.

  • Maintains records of time/tasks on a regularly scheduled basis.

  • Graphic organization of drawings on a per sheet basis.
